BE CAREFUL! SOME LINKS ARE MASKED!
One of the internet technologies that exist is the ability to mask web-addresses so that the internet user does not really see the name of the real web-address.
Recently, I have been getting emails from scammers telling me that my ATM has been blocked. The mail also tells me to click on a particular link to be redirected to where I will be able to unblock my blocked ATM card. Well, I know some of their tricks. I always verify! After clicking on link, you are redirected to a webpage that looks like it is coming from your bank - but prompting you to enter your ATM details like pin etc...
IF YOU DO, you will end up giving someone your ATM details withput knowing. And that can be used against you!
How did I know? If you look at the web address you have been redirected to as it appears on your address bar, you discover that it is not the true web address of your bank.
But never the less, some of those addresses might look like that of your bank. For example: Look closely at the difference between these two web adresses:
www.google.com
www.gooogle.com
And if you are not mindful, you might think it is still the web address of your bank. Be careful about these things. Keep what is confidential confidential!
Stay safe.
